Annual IWCA Convention

This year, it is off to New Orleans!

Every year the International Window Cleaning Association (IWCA), holds an annual convention.  I have been fortunate to have been able to attend pretty much every convention the IWCA has ever held.

I have always had two goals for Detroit Sponge’s attendance at these events.

  1. To support the format for the exchange in ideas between window cleaners from all over the planet.
  2. To create the opportunity for Detroit Sponge to interact directly with some of the best and brightest in the window cleaning world.

Obviously, most people will say that of course we go for the 2nd reason listed.  However, it is intentional that this is listed as the second reason…  I continue to work hard to create a culture around Detroit Sponge which says that while profit is important, there are certain things we do simply because they are the right things to do.

Supporting the forum and idea of window cleaners communicating about improving the industry through increased safety,  business planning, awareness of current issues (like scratched glass and fabricating debris) and other worthwhile topics is something that I see as simply the right thing to do.

I just booked my trip and hope to see you there!  If you and I meet up there, mention one of my favorite New Orleans artists, Dr. John to me.  Maybe there will be something in it for you…
