How to Choose the right Pure Water System

Are you curious about what pure water system is right for your needs?

To answer this question, answer a few specific questions first based upon the area you typical are using a pure water system. These questions regard, TDS, work height, and frequency of use.

What are the average TDS levels of the Tap Water you will be using?

  • Tap water with LOW TDS: 150 TDS or less, DI Resin Tank Only
  • Tap water with HIGH TDS: 150 TDS or More, Multi-stage systems

If they will be less than 150, you can use just a DI Resin filtering system.  Otherwise, you should consider a multi-stage system. Check out our DI resin only systems for working with low TDS, as well as our multi-stage systems for working with high TDS.

You can check your area’s average TDS levels with this website: http://www.zerowater.com/tds.aspx. It will simply ask you for the zip code of the area you are working on to calculate the typical TDS for the area. Make sure to check multiple zip codes of areas you are working in.

What heights will you be working at?

  • Working at lower height: 30 feet, no boosted pump and one pole.
  • Working at higher height: 65 feet, booster pump and multiple poles.

If you are only using a DI Resin filtering system (low TDS area) at heights of less than 30 feet, you should be able to get away without a booster pump, as long as you have adequate pressure at the tap (about 30 PSI). Water pressure ranges from area to area, may change from job to job, Otherwise, you will probably need a booster pump paired up with multi-stage system.

Remember: A booster pump is not needed for heights less than 30 feet or work with just one pole, but it will lengthen the life of the RO Membrane.

How often will you be using the Pure Water System?

If you will be cleaning with the Pure Water System infrequently, a DI Resin filtering system may be more cost effective.  This is especially true if you are just starting out and want to decide if a Pure Water System will work for you and your business. A DI Resin filtering system will require less maintenance, which may counter cost of lower DI Resin life with higher levels of TDS.

If you will be cleaning with the Pure Water System frequently, a multi-stage may extend the life and quality of the system, handling a higher amount of filtering.
