Yesterday, we posted a video telling you about our natural sea sponges. We are really proud of them. Heck, it’s in our name: Detroit SPONGE and Chamois. If you use natural sponges when you clean windows, you get it. If you don’t, you may be confused. I mean, most people think of bubble baths when they picture natural sea sponges. Or, maybe even equine care. But, window cleaning? Believe it or not, many window cleaners prefer them. The round shape of the sponges fits comfortably in the palm of your hand, making it more comfortable and ergonomical to wash window after window. For some, a rectangular, synthetic sponge or even the handle of a T-bar on a professional scrubber (wetter) can be painful after a long day. Plus, natural sponges do a great job of getting in all those dirty, little crevices when you are cleaning exterior windows and frames.
So, where do those natural sea sponges actually come from? Well, they really do come from the sea. As Mike mentioned in the video, DSC buys them directly from fisherman. They actually did an episode of Dirty Jobs on TLC, where Mike Rowe joins divers in their hunt. Check it out.
See. You learn something new every day here at the DSC blog.
