OK, OK …. I admit that in the past I have said to buy the largest size direct mail postcard that you could afford. I said to avoid the often lost 3″ x 5″. And, it’s all true.
I realized today that there are exceptions to that statement.
Why? Well, today I received this monstrosity in my mailbox.
I placed a sheet of 8 1/2″ x 11″ paper over it so you could see just how BIG it is. It measures 12″ x 14″. Crazy, right?! It clogged up my mailbox because it had to be awkwardly rolled up and all the other mail was just shoved in around it. As I removed everything, mail was falling to the ground. It seems petty, but this is what I was thinking. You want to know what your customers are thinking, right?! Good and bad. Actually, you REALLY want to know the bad!
So, I am hereby revising my opinion. When choosing direct mail post card sizes, purchase as large as you can afford UP TO 8 1/2″ x 11″. Any larger is just too big, a turn off for clients and a waste of your hard-earned money!
