With the rise of pure water technology, there has been a decrease in the use of ladders in the window cleaning industry. For most companies, although they use ladders less, they are still an important tool for the business. From hard-to-reach places on the outside of a building or cleaning vaulted ceilings in a home, a safe and trustworthy ladder is mandatory. Our team at Detroit Sponge strive to provide the best tools in the industry.
After research of ladders in the window cleaning industry, we have found Metallic Ladders to be the perfect ladder for window cleaners. We carry only Metallic Ladder sectional ladders, because they have the quality and reliability we demand from our vendors. Using box-girder side-rail construction and solid-cast fittings for superior rigidity and stability, Metallic Ladders are the right choice for the window cleaner’s needs. Easily transportable, these sectional ladders piece together quickly and easily on the job. Each section slips into the top of the one below it with yokes and secures with locking pins.
Most of our Metallic Ladders are 6-foot sections. However, after feedback from window cleaners, their 4-foot centers have returned. The 4-foot centers feature yokes at both ends to fit with the other center sections, tops, and bottoms. Be sure to not use the 4-foot sections as a base.
There are choices for the top section, a Vee Groove Top or Open Top. The names are self-explanatory. The top section with the traditional vee grove plate is the most popular style top section. The vee groove allows it to seat on the corner of a building for better stability. Open Top is straight across, similar to the other sections.
Tips for planning to use Metallic ladders:
- Keep in mind that one foot of length will be lost at each joint to provide the adequate overlap for safe assembly and use. So, a full set of four 6-foot ladder sections will be 21 feet. This will be important when you are working at very high heights.
- Assembled length of the section ladders is NOT to exceed 21 feet, which is four 6-foot sections (ie. 1 base, 2 center, 1 top). Top and center section pieces are NOT to be used as bases. Always secure ladders sections with locking pins during use. Maximum weight 250 pounds.
- Center sections are NOT to be used as a base.
