The Unger system is very easy to use and maintain. The DI resin bags are very easy to change. Just pull out the old one, drop in the new one, and make sure the bag is fully seated in the canister before putting on the lid. There’s almost maintenance needed for this system, and it will be fine during longer periods of disuse. Just drain out the water if you’re worried about a freeze, but it won’t harm the DI resin.
The HydroPower® Ultra DI resin bags are specifically designed with the KeyLock system to ensure the proper installation and the best waterflow and DI resin life. The DI resin is a virgin resin for the high performance available.
It is not recommended to refill the bags or to use the system without the bags. The HydroPower® Ultra 3-stage system holds three bags at a time. The TOP BAG should have a green KeyLock ring on the top and a red one on the bottom. The other two bags have red rings on the top and bottom. You can purchase the replacement DI resin bags for the 1-stage system as either a single bag or a pack of three bags. Be sure to get the bags for the 1-stage system.
WATER FLOW:
The system is really great because it offers great water flow with very little maintenance. In most cases you are able to reach up to 40-feet, sometimes up to 50-feet without the assistance of a booster pump.
TDS LEVELS:
Make sure you are checking the local TDS readouts in the area. Be cautious of running the system with higher than average levels. Typically, the Unger 3-Stage HydroPower will yield you anywhere from 30-36 hours of working life at 100ppm before the resin bags would need to be changed. It is highly recommended you replace all 3 bags at the same time. If you are working with TDS (total dissolved solids) levels reading high, your working time would be significantly less. Vice versa, if your TDS level are low, the resin bags will last longer.
